The Fate of Purple Clay - Exhibition of Shi Dajue’s Engravings and Paintings of Purple Clay Pots Made by Liu Rongping
March 30, 2024, the "Shi Dajue Carvings and Paintings Made by Liu Rongping" was hosted by the "Rongbaozhai" journal, hosted by Beijing Qielu Culture and Art Development Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Liu Rongping Art Studio and Beijing Shanggu Culture and Art Co., Ltd. "Zisha Teapot Exhibition" opened in the second exhibition hall of Rongbaozhai Building Art Gallery.
On display this time are fifty-two purple clay teapots of six styles crafted by Liu Rongping and carved by Shi Dajue (common name Yang Yan) in 2022. Among them, the traditional teapot types of Jinglan teapot, lotus seed teapot, Handuo teapot, Hanfang teapot, stone ladle teapot and Qinquan teapot are increased in capacity, and the teapot shape is more grand and graceful. In addition to the content of landscapes, flowers, and characters, Shi Dajue also expresses the quantum of the universe, the experience of practicing Buddhism, and humanistic care. In terms of engraving methods, it is different from other engravers, especially trying to use the method of stacking to create a surprise. These works include "The World Will Be Well" and "Universe" for the Han Fang Hu, "Delu" for the Lotus Seed Pot, and "Ask" and "Can" for Han Duo.
On the day of the opening ceremony, guests included Liu Bei, president of Rongbaozhai Publishing House, Li Xiangyang, editor-in-chief of the journal "Rongbaozhai", Ji Yishun, master of Chinese arts and crafts, Chinese ceramic art master, Li Shoucai, Chinese ceramic art master, etc. Leaders and experts spoke highly of the artistic achievements of Shi Dajue and Liu Rongping.
