Spring rhyme. Mandarin ducks live in ponds and swamps, and the male and female are often together. In folklore and literature, it is used to describe a couple who love each other and never separate. It first came from the poem "The Ancient Meaning of Chang'an" by Lu Zhaolin, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. The poem contains the line "I would like to be a mandarin duck but not an immortal", which praises the beautiful love.
